CDL A Training at Truck America Training
Truck America’s comprehensive 160 hour Class A CDL Training Program, conducted at our facility just south of Louisville, KY, provides future drivers with the skills to begin a career as a professional truck driver. Our expert instructors provide hands-on training and the CDL knowledge needed to properly and safely operate a truck.
Truck America’s training includes:
- Assistance getting your CDL learner’s permit
- Hands-on time driving a truck
- Map reading, trip planning and compliance
- Detect and identify preventive maintenance problems
- Backing, parking, turning – range skills to pass your Skills Exam
- Advanced truck driving techniques
- Safe driving habits
- Log books
Program Length: 3 and a half weeks (160 clock hours)
Class Schedule: 3 weeks Monday-Friday (10 hours/day: 6:30am-5:15pm) + test day(s) to obtain the CDL A
Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old to enroll to drive intrastate and 21 years old to drive interstate and have a valid operator driver’s license. Admissions Representatives will cover all admissions policies and entrance requirements.
Curriculum: Our CDL training is based off of industry standards and the Kentucky State Police CDL A test to operate a Tractor/Trailer. The full-time Class A driver training program includes a week of classroom instruction, plus hands-on, behind-the-wheel training. Classroom, field, and road training are completed at the school training grounds. Students will participate in extensive practice driving on a specially prepared driving range and on local highways and city streets with a qualified driver instructor.
This course prepares students for entry-level employment in the transportation industry.
